SRSH (State Registered Senior Hairdresser) status for VOIE founder
With the outbreak of Coronavirus and subsequent lockdown, individuals all over the world have had to resort to DIY hair and many of the results have been documented on social media channels.
Appreciation for the profession has never been higher and the long-awaited, reopening of salons in July is already resulting in high demand. However, unlike many professions, state registration for hairdressing professionals remains voluntary.
The Hair Council is campaigning to change this and is actively encouraging hairdressers and barbers to join the UK Register of Qualified Hairdressers and Barbers.
Victoria Latham, founder of VOIE Hairdressing, Leyland in 2006 and VOIE Hairdressing in Garstang in 2018, has responded and last week received an official certificate displaying her new State Registered Senior Hairdresser (SRSH).
Delighted with her new status Victoria is also taking advantage of the free advice now available from the Council. In particular she will be following their guidelines closely relating to the Coronavirus, as plans are well underway for the reopening of her two salons.
Victoria says, “Our valued customers are desperate to return to the salon and we can’t wait to start the transformations but it is very important that we keep them and our staff safe.
“I am delighted with my new SRSH status. It is time people see hair and barbering as a serious career choice and hopefully, it will prevent anyone setting up a business with no or little experience.”
Committed to generating a professional reputation that the hair industry deserves, the Hair Council works hard to raise standards and improve professionalism within the UK hairdressing industry. With 11,500 hair professionals already registered, the Council is closer than ever for the Act to be upgraded from voluntary to mandatory.
